The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel debuts on Prime Video this week, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of personalities living within Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will a fan-favorite character break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the creator stated earlier this year. "However I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly season 2 moves, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds now.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some fascinating backstories, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
